“With Stage 2 of the Mount Panorama Redevelopment now at the construction phase giving a facelift to the entrance to the circuit, it is exciting to that there will also be a new face for the circuit’s biggest event of the year,” Bathurst Regional Council Administrator Kath Knowles said.

“The sponsorship from such a reputable Australian retail chain that has its heart in the motor industry is a fitting alliance that I am sure will only strengthen the future of the Great Race.

“With the outstanding success of the 2004 event, it is important that Council continue to complete the project that will further establish Mount Panorama as a world class motor racing venue and year round tourist attraction.

2ban Crushes Eminem 2pac Collaborations

The only chance the world has to rid itself of overwhelming American Hip Hop is in this man. Don’t take word for it. Look up his website download the free evidence of him; What this means in reality is that 2 Ban will actively encourage people to bootleg his material, heck, he’ll even supply the cover artwork if you want. What this means is that any head who wants to make a few beans can get up and sell 2 Ban’s stuff – keeping the revenue for themselves.

“He has produced a thought provoking offering, and he has a lot to say. It is refreshing to hear from someone who is taking their responsibilities as a role model and educator as well as entertainer seriously. There are some very serious messages on here, a real education if you choose it to be, however it is presented in an accessible way” (lowlife.fsnet)

2Ban also does video art and we received a DVD with image and video collages to their tracks, and the result is unlike anything we saw from a hip hop artist yet – 2Ban touch on a lot of topics that would make other conscious emcees feel like going back to the library. This is the Open Source version of releases. You can copy, sell and redistribute the albums as many times as you wish as long as you mention the original author 2BAN.

“These albums are richly packed with African historical jewels for your mind. I can’t help but think that these are the kinds of albums that everybody needs to give a listen to, if only for the history lesson.”(african hiphop.com) undefined.

2Ban deserves props and respect alone for the amount of tracks they’ve recorded showcasing their Genre of music “Roots Hiphop” recorded from 2002 to 2004.The mc spits some serious deep lyrics dealing with a whole load of issues that people face in life.

“If you want to listen to some deep positive hiphop about real issues then these albums are really worth checking out.If you want to check out hiphop thats different from anything out there at the moment then you need to pick up “Roots hiphop” from a very talented Mc/songwriter named 2ban. 2ban is a real mc who speaks upon real issues, and isnt influenced by the commercial money hungry blinged out sound thats been polluting hiphop recently. Not only is 2ban an excellent lyricist who puts across alot of possitive messages, hes also a talented producer.Basically a one man band who definitely needs to be heard.Roots Hiphop..For more info on 2ban or if you want to get a copy of his excellent albums email me at mrcrf@cbmag.co.uk” .

“The artist 2ban, Well hes back with a brand new track entitled “We Await A New Chapter” which hears 2ban get deep and speak knowledge over the same break as Twista recently used on his Sunshine track. 2ban also sent me a Dvd with 8 videos he`s done to his music which if your interested in watching you should check out the website www.2ban.co.uk and get intouch with the man himself.Remember his Lp is also available on vinyl featuring a whole selection of Roots hiphop Tracks.” (cbmag.co.uk)

Overall this is good material and that you should check 2ban for his good fact telling abilities. His strength is in keeping you listening. He has a message that he is desperate for people to listen to. I was impressed with many of the tracks on his albums just for the messages contained on here. I feel that people of all races can learn alot from these materials.

“Anyway so what I like is that he has a message. He doesn’t mess around, he tells his story to you directly. He wants to wake the African people’s up and show them what colonialists have done to them.” (africasgateway.com).

“Throughout the world, we believe in giving each of our artists as much to say in their own words as possible, and with 2 Ban, we think we have come across a true individual. We have had a huge response from this exciting new artist and think it’s worth sharing with you.” (moonlightradio.com).

Bob Jane unveiled at National Motor Racing Museum opening

MEDIA RELEASE – Bronze portraits of two of the biggest names in Australian motor racing were unveiled at the National Motor Racing Museum at Mount Panorama today signalling an important new direction for one of the country’s most significant motor sport collections.

The four times Australian Touring Car Champion and three times winner of the Great Race, Bob Jane, was on hand for his induction into the museum’s new Hall of Fame. A portrait of 1987 world 500cc champion Wayne Gardner was also unveiled representing the museum?s strong collection of motor cycles and its race memorabilia.

Owned and operated by Bathurst Regional Council the $500,000 museum extensions are part of $25 million recreation and tourism redevelopment plan for the world famous motor racing circuit.

Bathurst Regional Council Administrator Kath Knowles said the new direction for the museum was part of a significant master plan to boost Mount Panorama?s reputation as a year-round tourism facility.

“Bathurst has long been the spiritual home of Australian motor racing with a proud history that covers a variety of motor racing categories in over 60 years of motor racing events.

“The museum’s collection grows from strength to strength and now with more space many of the unique items in the collection that have been carefully stored away from the public can now take pride of place as part of the expanded exhibition.

“We are very privileged to have Bob Jane here today who is not only one of the legends of the Australian motor racing but a great friend of Bathurst. We are very proud that he is the very first inductee into the new Hall of Fame exhibit and can look forward to welcoming back many other great racing identities in the future as this special exhibit is developed,? Ms Knowles said.

“We know that annually 300,000 visitors come to Mount Panorama just to do a ‘lap of the track’ and that the proportion of these visitors that stop at the museum is growing all the time with 1000 visitors through a week during the January holidays.

“This is of course just the beginning and with stage 2 of the redevelopment now underway, including improvements to recreation areas at the top of the Mount, the experience will only get better.” Over 100 people attended the opening event including many of the local legends of racing at Mount Panorama many of who have made significant donations to the collection. These include George Reed who built and raced cars at Mount Panorama in the 1950?s. A replica of his 1951 Australian Grand Prix winning vehicle has a special place in the museum.

An Interview with Eden MacKenzie (emac), October 2004

Age:
Too young to be going grey. (but I still have)

Sex:
Male

What is your day job?:
I work in the power industry.

How long have you lived in Bathurst?:
Since 1979 but I now live in Portland (God’s country)

What does Bathurst need to make it a better place?:
More roundabouts! and more non smoking music venues.

Which pubs/clubs do you frequent the most, and why?:
Warpstanza Gallery because it has such a wide range of stuff to listen to.

What sport/group activities are you involved in?:
Um, I ride my Bike to work. Does that count?

Do you play an instrument, and what is it?:
Guitars, Bass, Keys, and I’ll have a go at just about anything. (useless on drums though)

What is your favourite style of music?:
Sciencefolktion! ie: lots of different stuff so long as it is honest!

what radio station do you listen to the most?:
Sorry, but I don’t really listen to the radio at all.

What new music are you listening to at the moment that excites you?:
Vapour Trails by Rush. Rush have been around since the 70s but rarely sound stale.

What would you do to change the music industry for the better?:
Ban market manipulation and image driven music (I believe music should be heard and not just a sound track for an expensive film clip)

When you were younger, did you used to do silly things like play the tennis racket in front of the mirror or sing into a deoderant can?:
No but I was often found hiding inside head phones listening to somthing. or when everyone else would listen to the main melody of a tune I would hum to some far off sub melody. Every one else thought I was just out of tune!

They say you need luck and to be in the right place at the right time to break into the ‘Music Scene’. What else do you think you need?:
